Originally a postwar US military base, Showa Kinen Park was returned to Japan during the Showa Emperor's reign, hence the name. With the arrival of spring, the grounds are coming back to life. That March 22nd was a sunny and warm (up to 19°C) Saturday also helped bring visitors. Admission is ¥400 but annual passes are available for ¥4000. Pamphlets are available in Japanese and English (perhaps Chinese and Korean, too) and contain information on when the various trees and flowers are in bloom.

The geographic coordinates are low in accuracy because my GPS unit has yet to arrive.
