Beginning of the name Europe (Europa) is from the Greek mythology. The plastic from the bottom of the 8 m high family tomb of the Enni on the Roman necropolis in Šempeter in Savinjska Valley shows Europa being carried off across the sea by Zeus, changed into a bull. Šempeter is located 20 km west from Celje. The place is renowned as the best preserved monuments of the Roman period in Slovenia. The necropolis was found by coincidence in the year 1952.
