This panorama shows an expatriate housing compound at a construction site in the Algerian Mountain Range, about 70km south of the capital, Algiers.

This area was for many years the stronghold of the Algerian terrorist movement. In last year's referendum a general amnesty was given, which improved the situation in the country and especially in this region in regard to terrorism.

Picture is taken on the BORDER of foreign "civilization" inside the camp and terrorist region outside on one side and a big real prison on the other side.

See here a scene taken on a weekly held street market not far from the expatriate camp. Foreign visitors are obliged to use a police escort service for traveling within certain areas of Algeria. Here a view of the Casbah ( old town center) of Algiers.
