Caption
The Mercado do Livramento is situated in the downtown area of Setúbal around 50km south of the portuguese capital Lisbon. The market hall was inaugurated on July 31, 1876. See here and here an outside picture of the building and some more information in portuguese.

After several months of spotless sky with no rain at all, on March 19th, when I went to Setubal to take the pictures, it was dark and grey outside. Inside the market hall it was very dark, much darker as it looks on the final panorama. Had to push my D70/Nikkor8 to the limits in order to prevent any motion blur by fast moving people. Instead of a bulky tripod I used an inobtrusive monopod which didn't called any attention and was easy to handle in the crowd.
Here you can see some additional panoramas which I shot on March 19. First of all getting from Lisbon to the market comfortably by Fertagus Train. Here some other views of the market. Fruit Section Fish Section Vegetable Section Overview of Market Then I went back to Lisbon and shot this panorama at the Lisbon Ribeira Market

If you happen to be on a Mac with Safari, check out the Pangea Viewer Version of my panorama. The Pangea Viewer (MAC ONLY!!) is an OpenGL accelerated viewer. The difference is amazing.
