Mrs Jan Peng and neighbour in her seasonal garden on the banks of the Mekong.

Dry season reveals many sandbars all along the Mekong which are intensively cultivated with lettuce, beans, chives and in Jans case some delicious cucumbers. In the wet season, the water level will rise up to 8 meters above it's present level.

The market place is here, or just across the river in Luang Prabang city.
