The Free Store at the Cortes Island Recycling Center

Yes, it really is a Free Store! Everything in there is free, left by islanders to be recycled. The common challenge when doing housecleaning is to try to go home with less stuff than you dropped off! Visitors to the island are always amazed to visit the Recycling Center and discover the Free Store. On an island two ferry rides from the nearest "real" mall (in Campbell River) this is a very popular place to shop and socialize.
