This woodland is part of the Alhambra World Heritage Site (Unesco ref. ES-314bis) in Granada, Spain. It is an urban forest that surrounds the Alhambra fortress and serves not only as a recreational park but also as an organic sponge that protects this historic monument from pollution. Water, which is an important part of this monument site, is also present all around the forest in the form of streams and waterfalls and creates a beautiful temperate deciduous forest that is home to a large variety of flora and fauna. Horse chestnuts, poplars, elms, hazelnuts, plane trees, to name just a few, serve as shelter to many birds species, small mammals, reptiles and amphibians.
