Interior of the Hagia Sophia (Museum of St. Sophia), which originated as a church in 360 AD under Constantine. It was converted to a mosque when the city was conquered by the Ottomans in 1453 by Sultan Mehmed II, and remained so until 1931. It was opened as a museum in 1935. Today, the museum is considered the most important Byzantine monument in the world.
