While walking the path around Mud Lake in the Britannia Conservation Area on a beautiful September morning, I noticed the sun shining through the branches of a tree with brilliant yellow leaves.

Overhead the first signs of Autumn are just beginning to appear, the red and orange of the maples, oaks and other hardwood trees and yellows of the softwoods. The air was fresh and alive with the sounds of birds singing.

It was a great day to be alive and this is my favourite panorama of 2011.
