In June of 2010 my wife, Cindy, and I took our granddaughter to visit my sister in Vienna, and while there the four of us drove down to Venice. We took in all the sights, I shot panos and pictures in St. Mark's Square like all the other tourists, but the area that gave me the most comfortable feeling was, surprisingly, without the water Venice is known for—it was this little street, Calle dei Fabbri, outside our hotel (that's the hotel entrance with the round red awning). More than anything else it spoke to me of the age and endurance of this great city.
