Caracas is the capital city of Venezuela. Santiago de Losada founded the city in 1567. It is where Simón Bolívar was born. The city has 6 million people who live in the metropolitan area. Caracas is the center of the economical activity of the country and also hosts the main government offices. The valley is close to the Caribbean Sea, separated from the coast by a steep 2,200 m (7,400 ft) high mountain range, Cerro Ávila; to the south there are more hills and mountains. Cerro El Ávila (Mountain El Ávila) (Indigenous name: Guaraira Repano). It is considered the lung of Caracas due to the fact that there is a lot of vegetation on it. We are in the pool at Pestana Caracas, a beautiful 5-star hotel where we can appreciate the spectacular view.
