Coral Reef Reserve New Caledonia

This lovely coral reef is just off the wharf of the l'Escapade Island Resort on Ilot Maitre, New Caledonia. Ilot Maitre is a special marine reserve and the entire reef is protected against harming the marine life in any way. The fish are abundant and friendly and the coral reef vibrantly alive.

Only about 7 nautical miles from downtown Noumea, the island is part of the New Caledonia Lagoon UNESCO World Heritage Site.
