The new expressway opened between Nagoya and Shirakawago in 2008.

"Shirakawago" is a World Heritage site and sightseeing spot. However, up to now it was difficult to visit because it was in the Mountainous district. It became easy to go there from Nagoya with the opening of the expressway.
