The panorama shows the Cunard liner, Queen Mary 2, entering New York after a six day transatlantic crossing from Southampton, England.

The Queen Mary 2 was the first major ocean liner (as opposed to a cruise liner) built since the Queen Elizabeth 2 in 1969. At the time of her maiden voyage on January 12th, 2004, Queen Mary 2 was the longest, widest and tallest passenger ship ever built, and at 148,528 GRT (gross registered tonnage) was also the largest.
