A spontaneous protest in the form of a candlelit vigil for over 30 days and nights by the citizens of Kolkata forced the State Govt. to order an independent CBI inquiry in the death of Rizwanur Rehman. The young graphics instructor had eloped with a rich businessman's daughter which got her family involving the police to try and break the marriage. He was later found dead under mysterious circumstances by a railway track. Five senior Police Officers were transferred including the Chief of Police due to this vigil.
