A short walk from a parking lot off Grand View Point Road in Canyonlands National Park, Mesa Arch is just stunning. The sunrise shots are even better; however, arrive early to stake your spot. We arrived at about 5:30 a.m. the morning after this shot was taken (a full hour before sunrise) and seven photographers had already arrived (this was also on a weekday). Surprisingly, they were so anxious to keep it to themselves, they all staked out locations too close to the arch to take advantage of the overall view. Regardless, Canyonlands and its sister park Arches NP are a photographers dream. Allow at least a week to cover them both (and bring plenty of file or digital media).
