This small church has a long history, started from 1547 when it was build as a guesthouse. After a massive gunpowder explosion in 1807 which blew away almost half the town of Leiden to bits, the brother of French ruler Napoleon came to help the city. The people of Leiden where so happy about this, that the renamed the church to "Lodewijk Parochie" It has been restored in 2004.
