St. Marien - Pirna
We went to the wonderful area called "Saechsische Schweiz" ("saxon switzerland") in the east of germany. The town this one was taken - Pirna - is a synonym for a typical old german town: http://www.landesdenkmalamt-bw.de/nachrichtenblatt-online/NB2003-3-286-292.pdf
and high water/flood is a traditional theme here.
The whole area was flooded last time in august 2002 and you can see the high water marks on many buildings at incredible heights. St.Marien in Pirna was flooded as well, but meanwhile the cathedral is lovely restored.
It's not the panorama of highest quality, lowest noise, most action or highest dynamic range I took in 2006. But for some reason, I often look at it. Maybe it's the nice light in there and I remember myself laughing by seeing the the sun on the baptistry: "The holy grail must look exactly like this!" ;-)
The photos were done on a sunday in march and we leaved at Monday, when Pirna again was affected by the high water. Furtunately St. Marien was not affected this year - they re-opened on 8th. of April.
