This is what Hell must be like, fire-blowing mouths everywhere. Burners to turn water into steam in this tower-shaped boiler.

Height: some 80 metres, producing electricity. It was a once in a lifetime opportunity to photograph the inferno tower's interior as the burners were switched off for maintenance. The next time will be in twenty years.

Being inside is like being in a huge cathedral. When there are no fires, no steam, of course. Just imagine being at the very source of energy. This is where modern life begins.

Nikon coolpix 5000, fisheye adapter, Seitz VR drive, Gitzo tripod all carried in my Lowpro bag. Applications used: Panoweaver and Cubic Converter and Photoshop on Mac G4.
